Contemporary dance can be danced to any style of music and combined with any other dance style to create new movement. It seeks to use the natural alignment of the body and promotes ease of movement making it accessible to beginners as well as allowing more experienced dancers to push the boundaries of their dance training.
Contemporary classes are offered to ballet students when they reach Grade 3 standard. Classes are based on a combination of Graham and Cunningham Techniques. Traditional exercises as well as contact improvisation and choreography workshops allow children to develop their creativity as well as improve their contemporary dance technique.
Are encouraged to join in with mixed classes as described above.
Designed for those with little or no previous experience in ballet or contemporary dance, these classes are an easy and fun way of exploring a more disciplined dance style in a relaxed environment.
