KAREN BERRY  PRINCIPAL

Over the past 33 years Karen has had a diverse career including, performing, researching, choreographing and teaching.

Danscentre's Principal, Karen Berry, has worked in dance training and education throughout Britain, developing a wide range of courses for students and teachers, including RAD CBTS programme, RAD Pre-school Dance Curriculum, INSET for primary and secondary school teachers and HNC in Dance Studies.

She has worked in dance training and education throughout Britain, developing a wide range of courses for students and teachers, including RAD CBTS programme, RAD Pre-school Dance Curriculum, INSET for primary and secondary school teachers and HNC in Dance Studies. Lately through her work for the Royal Ballet School she has helped to develop teacher training seminars and webinars for teachers working within educational, recreational and vocational sectors.

 

Karen has been employed as choreographer for Scottish Arts Council funded projects as well as  professional companies.  

She has worked for the RAD, developing and teaching student and teachers’ courses worldwide. She was an instrumental member of the creative panel responsible for developing the new RAD children’s grades, where she additionally developed the associated teacher training courses. Karen has been employed as an external assessor for SQA for Higher Dance and was a member of the qualification design team responsible for the new SQA qualification National Progression Award in Dance. 

She has been invited to speak at national conferences and events on a diverse range of issues surrounding the education and training of dancers and teachers.

Karen B erry, Principal of Danscentre Aberdeen, has worked as a peripatetic teacher at The Royal Ballet School since 2011 where she currently works as Teacher Training Manager, with duties including managing the school’s Diploma of Dance Teaching, DDTAL, Inspire and Enlighten programmes, INSET and CPD for teachers within and out with the school.

At Danscentre, she continues to co-manage and teach recreational and prevocational children and students.
