iDance Junior truly was a wonderful experience for our younger Danscentre pupils! They have been working hard in the studio in the lead up for their performances at the Beach Ballroom and it has been such an exciting time for all. Head to our social media pages to catch up on some behind the scenes action from the rehearsals and performances. It was a fantastic week for all the DC staff and students as we opened iDance Junior at the Beach Ballroom. We would like to thank all our families who took part for their time, attending extra rehearsals, adapting to changes, and for their dedication and hard work in the studio in the lead up to their performances. Look at this lovely video below of our pupils ready and raring to go before going onstage! The energy backstage was brilliant, and it was great to see the children make new friends and spend time with their classmates.
Into the Unknown
Our show ‘Into the Unknown’ was based on the story of The Wizard of Oz, with our junior pupils dancing as Lion Cubs, Tinmen, The Storm, Forest Spirits and many more to tell the story of Dottie and her adventure in the land of Oz.
Throughout the performance, we also had some of our senior DC students showcasing styles such as Ballet, Modern and Contemporary. Our junior students were hugely inspired by them all and came away hoping they can continue their dance journey and one day be able to perform and dance at their level.
We would like to congratulate both the Red and Blue cast students, who ranged in age from Primary 1 – Primary 4, for doing a brilliant job learning and retaining the choreography, whilst having so much fun. It was uplifting for the Danscentre staff and parents to see the growth in their confidence throughout the entire process, It was a positive experience for all involved and managing to stage traditional Finale for the whole cast was a real highlight - it certainly is a memory that will stay with us all for a very long time!
Fundraising
Danscentre’s chosen charity for the iDance Junior show fundraising was AberNecessites and we were delighted to donate £950 to them last week. Head to the link below to read more on how they support our community:
Special Thanks
We would like to thank our generous sponsor Spears Physiotherapy for supporting our iDance performances throughout the weekend, our huge number of parent helpers backstage for their time and energy and our brilliant Danscentre assistants for keeping the children entertained behind the scenes and being there to guide them whilst onstage. We'd like to further thank Graham Read from Photo GFX Media LTD for capturing special moments from our performances and the technical team at the Ballroom for all their care and hard work. Keith Donaldson did a fabulous job stage managing the whole production and keeping everything on track! We are so grateful to all involved.
